The housing market in Amsterdam, as in many other European capitals, is brutal! If you’re planning to move to the city soon, or if you’re already here looking for an apartment, you may now feel frustrated. Finding a place with nice housemates, at a reasonable price and close to the centre it’s almost impossible. But Amsterdam’s housing market is not too bad if compared to other cities such as Paris and Dublin. I’ll be honest, I’ve never lived in the perfect apartment, but changing three houses in the last year taught me something. …

Well, you already got it by the title… Yep, I’m positive for Covid-19! After managing to avoid this damn virus for more than a year, I fell victim to its powers.

The good news:

  • I feel good at the moment. No symptoms whatsoever, no fever, no cough, no headache. Still a good sense of smell and taste (I guess I won’t lose those extra kilos this time).
  • I haven’t met anyone at risk in the last week and just one of my housemates is home. Well… Now that I’m typing this I’m starting to feel something in my throat… It’s…

For those of you who don’t know me, nice to meet you! My name is Cristina and in less than a month, my life-long dream will finally become a reality. I will start to travel full-time!

When I first realised that travelling full-time was a concrete possibility for me, I felt excitement, happiness and impatience. I couldn’t believe that so many days still separated me from my departure. I just wanted to leave everything behind and start my journey. …

Finally, I got my IUD inserted and it wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be. But let’s start from the beginning!

Why I changed my contraceptive method?

Unlike many other girls, I honestly had no problem with my previous contractive method, Nuvaring. For those of you who don’t know, Nuvaring is a plastic ring that releases hormones that prevent you from getting pregnant. It must be inserted into your vagina after your menstrual period and removed after three weeks. …

So, we’re finally at the edge of the abyss. In less than a month I will start my digital nomad lifestyle. Exciting! Well, not really.

I thought I would have been extremely excited at the point of not being able to sleep at night but, to be honest, I’m doing just fine. I guess everything happened so fast that I didn’t have the time to fully realise that my life-long dream was behind the corner. Four months ago I had no idea how to make enough money online to be able to leave everything behind and start travelling full-time. Here…

De Natureluur Sloterpark, Amsterdam — Photo taken by the Author

Everybody living or coming to visit Amsterdam knows the main parks of the city. Vondelpark, Westerpark and Oosterpark are the three main ones and they are surely worth visiting. However, they can be extremely overcrowded especially in the summer months. They can also be very noisy as Amsterdammers like to listen to loud music while training or partying, so they are not the best option if you’re looking for a relaxing afternoon. Moreover, here it’s common to find people drinking and taking drugs so if you have a family with young kids you may want to avoid them. Luckily, there…

After publishing exactly 50 stories, I finally reached 100 followers. Right, it doesn’t look like an amazing achievement, especially when there are so many writers out there that have thousands of followers, but I’m still proud! I’ve been writing on this platform for about nine months now and I finally have a clear opinion on Medium.

First and foremost, it’s true, this is more of a defeat than a victory. I spent so much time on this platform and I never managed to earn more than twenty euros per month. It really seems as if it’s all useless and worthless…

Amsterdam is a wonderful city! I always thought so, since the very first moment I arrived here, five years ago. There’s only one negative side and no, I’m not talking about the weather. I’m talking about tourists!

Always carelessly walking in the middle of the cycle path, taking hundreds of pictures of useless things (come on! Seriously? you never saw a pigeon?), crowding the city centre! I can’t stand them!

So through the years, I found out a few activities that I usually do in my free days to enjoy the Amsterdammer lifestyle while avoiding mass tourism. Here’s my list!

So, you decided that travelling full-time is for you. Great! We have something in common! But even though you know that’s what you want, you have no idea how to get there. No problem, I was in the same situation not too long ago. But now, here I am! In a month and a week, I will leave my country to start travelling full-time!

Before starting to write on Upwork I watched tons of Youtube videos and read hundreds of articles on the topic to make sure it was worth it. As usual, most of them had horrible opinions regarding the platform but after eight months of publishing my best content on Medium and making no money, I had to try something else. It turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever taken! Here is my adventure through my first 30 days on Upwork.

What is Upwork?

Upwork is a platform that connects people in need of freelancers and freelancers.

There are many categories of work…

Cristina Miceli

A 23 year old freelancer trying to figure out what to do in her life. Spoiler alert: the answer is traveling.
